- These are mainland rates for resident employees. Zanzibar has its own tax administration.
Common questions
How much PAYE do I pay on TZS 1,500,000 a month?
NSSF takes TZS 150,000, leaving taxable pay of TZS 1,350,000. PAYE is TZS 233,000 (TZS 128,000 on the first TZS 1,000,000 plus 30% of TZS 350,000), so take-home pay is TZS 1,117,000.
What is the tax-free amount in Tanzania?
The first TZS 270,000 of monthly taxable pay is not taxed.
Did the Finance Act 2026 change PAYE?
No. The Finance Act 2026 did not change the resident PAYE bands, which stay at 0%, 8%, 20%, 25% and 30%.
